Making school crossings safer for our children

School crossing safety remains one of the most consistently raised issues in our community.

Concerns about near misses, driver behaviour in school zones, and the availability of traffic wardens continue to be raised by families, teachers, and community members across the electorate.

Of the 16 schools in the Churchlands electorate, 10 have designated pedestrian crossings, but only six are currently staffed by WA Police allocated traffic wardens, reflecting an ongoing statewide shortage.

CrossSafe in the media

CrossSafe has struck a chord. Local papers have covered the campaign and the community groups who back safer school streets have been quick to lend their voice. This page will keep building as the campaign does with new stories, new supporters, and new reasons why every crossing counts.

Our CrossSafe survey is already delivering some interesting statistics, and will be used to advocate for practical solutions including improved infrastructure and addressing the ongoing shortage of traffic wardens.
